Winter Elements is an oil painting looking at the potential for the absent self portrait, that is, a picture with elements from the artists life that allude to the artist, without the artist being present in the picture.
The plants in this image are bay tree and rosemary and the winter in the title is because these are the only green things growing in our garden over that season. The clock lives on our mantelpiece and was originally purchased because of a Christmas present my husband bought me (if we ever meet, ask me and I'll explain).
the painting has a pattern in the background as I was looking to include more interest into the larger paintings at this time.
Painted in oils on a 1x1 metre square deep edge canvas, photos showing the work in a room are for context only, the painting is unframed.
